MATA is taking steps to make its vehicles and passenger facilities more bike-friendly
Existing Bike Accommodations
Bike Racks on Buses - Fifty-five (55) Fixed Route buses are currently equipped with bike racks, representing 34% of the active fleet. Racks are mounted on the front of the bus and hold two bikes.
Trolleys do not have bike racks mounted on the exterior, but MATA’s policy is to allow bicycles to be brought on board as long as space is available and the bicycle does not block the aisle or doors.
Bike Racks at Passenger
Facilities - All four of MATA’s passenger facilities have bike racks. These facilities include: North End Terminal [444 N. Main Street],
Central Station [545 S. Main St.], Madison Avenue Park-and-Ride [on Madison
Avenue between Cleveland St. and Claybrook St.), and American Way Transit
Center [3921 American Way] have bike parking racks secured to the sidewalk for
storing bikes while using transit.
