Applying for MATAplus Service

In order to be eligible to utilize MATAplus service, you need to complete an application and be approved. To request an application please call (901) 722-7105 or (901) 722-7140 or by TTY at 523-2817 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

To request an application via e-mail, please submit the applicant's name, current address, and telephone number to tepps@matatransit.com.  Application will be mailed in 5-7 business days.


Making a Reservation

To make a reservation please call our reservation agents at 722-7171.

Reservation agents are available:

MONDAY-FRIDAY
8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

SATURDAY, SUNDAY, AND HOLIDAYS
8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Individuals with hearing impairments may confirm their reservation through MATA's TTY number at 523-2817.

Please remember, drivers CANNOT make, change, or cancel your reservations. In order to change your reservation, you need to contact a MATAplus reservation agent.

MATAplus

As part of the Memphis Area Transit Authority's continuing efforts to improve service to our passengers, the information below describes some of the many services brought to you by the MATAplus division.

MATAplus is a service designed by the Memphis Area Transit Authority to meet the transportation needs of persons with disabilities in the Memphis service area. In order to utilize the benefits of MATAplus, riders must have a disability that prevents them from riding the MATA fixed route bus system and the disability must be verified by a medical professional.

To file a complaint about an experience with MATAplus, please follow the complaint procedure.

 


Service Area

p_mataplus3MATAplus service operates during the same days and hours as the fixed-route bus system. The service area extends one mile beyond the fixed-routes. Points of origin and destinations not within the one mile corridor are eligible for ADA service with the understanding that MATAplus is only required to provide transportation within the service area.

MATAplus will schedule service for area outside of the service area only if MATAplus has the capacity to provide the service. A trip may require more than one hour from origin to destination due to the size of MATAplus service area and group trips.

We are committed to trips that are not excessive in length and have adopted the standard that the travel times for paratransit trips will be the same as the fixed-route bus system. MATA Pass Policy

All passes are non-refundable, non-replaceable and non-exchangeable.

Memphis Area Transit Authority assumes no responsibility for items lost, stolen, misplaced, or delayed in the mail.

MATA may replace passes that are wedged or trapped in the farebox.

You may purchase MATAplus  cards by mail by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your payment to:

If you do not send a self-addressed envelope, include an additional $1.00 for postage and handling and allow seven to ten days for delivery of the card.
