MATA offers reduced fare rates for students enrolled in Shelby County Schools, senior citizens 65 years and older, and people with disabilities on fixed route bus and trolleys. A valid MATA identification card is required to qualify for the reduced fare.
MATA identification cards cost $3 and are processed at the William Hudson Transit Center located at 444 North Main Street. For more information, call 901.523.8134. Replacement cards cost $5.

Student Fare:
All students in grades 1-12 are eligible for a discounted student fare rate. Proof of enrollment and a form of identification is required, such as birth certificate, social security card, insurance card, and parents or guardians may serve as a form of identification.
Senior Citizens Fare:
Individuals who are age 65 years and older are eligible to pay a fare of half the base fare. A valid form of identification with proof of age is required.
Individuals Presenting A Medicare Card:
For fixed route service, fares charged to individuals presenting a Medicare card will not be more than one half the base fare.
Fares for Persons with Disabilities:
Individuals with disabilities are eligible to pay a fare of half the base fare. Persons with a Medicare card and another form of identification will be approved immediately and are not required to complete an application. Otherwise, a physician or medical professional must verify the disability as part of the application process. You must apply in person at the William Hudson Transit Center located at 444 North Main Street.
MATA PASS POLICY
All passes are non-refundable, non-replaceable and non-exchangeable. MATA assumes no responsibility for items lost, stolen, misplaced or delayed in the mail. MATA may replace passes that are wedged or trapped in the farebox. For more specific information about MATA passes, please call 901.523.8134.
